Length: Two vehicle combination overall maximum length is 130’.

Width: Up to 14’6” wide is commonly permittable. For loads 14’6”-16’ wide there are certain routes available. Anything over 16’ is highly restricted.

Height: Easy movement up to 14’. Movement from 14’ – 15’6” many route restrictions. Loads over 15’6” are highly restricted and a route survey is required.

When Escorts Are Needed:

Police Escort:

  • Prime responsibility of permittee to determine the need for police escort, which is automatically required if permittee is not able to yield right of way to oncoming traffic or if vehicle/load will encroach into oncoming traffic lane or if traffic must be directed or controlled.
  • Permittee is responsible for police escort fees.
  • State may require police for other safety reasons.
